The Difference Between Going Direct to a Carrier vs Using a Broker
Direct-to-carrier (the 1-800 number on the TV ad) means you're buying from a single company that only sells its own product. The price is what it is. The coverage is what they offer. If they say no, you're stuck.
A broker is independent. We represent you, not the carrier. We shop 200+ carriers on your behalf, compare insurance carriers side-by-side, and place you with whichever one actually wants your risk at the best price.
The other difference shows up at claim time. Direct carriers route you through their own adjuster. A broker advocates for you with that adjuster — pushing on coverage decisions, explaining policy language, and escalating when something's off.
There's no extra cost to use a broker. Carriers pay us a standard commission whether you go through us or buy direct. The only thing you lose by going direct is choice.
